Saudi Arabia Releases 375 Ethiopian Prisoners
Addis Ababa January 09/2017 Some 375 Ethiopians sentenced in Saudi Arabia are granted clemency, according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The clemency was granted following the appeal of President Mulatu Teshome to King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz for their release.
Ethiopian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Saudi Arabia, Amin Abdulkadir said the recent talks between the officials of the two countries and the clemency granted demonstrate the boost in ties.
The freed prisoners have been under detention for the past four years, it was learned.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this is the first time in the relation of the two countries that Ethiopians are granted clemency.
